Katie Carlson-Akuno is an international gender and development specialist and a vocal advocate for gender justice around the world. Katie works with a diverse range of organizations, specializing in gender transformative thinking and practice, including analysis, mainstreaming and programming across a variety of sectors, as well as participatory gender coaching and capacity building for adults and adolescents. She brings a wealth of expertise directly informed by her extensive hands-on work at the grassroots level, experience which shapes and fuels her thought leadership at the regional and global level of policy, program and strategy. Katie is distinctly passionate about gender transformative approaches that bring about positive, sustainable social change and are inclusive of men and boys as key players in shifting gender norms and preventing gender-based violence.
